It's the one night that the individual swimmer knows is coming up. 2 days ago this event seemed like a century away but now it's the day of this event. So emotions are stirring up quite viciously. For those entering this particular event for the first time have multiple feelings. It's like walking up to a dark and mysterious room with fog everywhere. Some are freaked out about the scenery and some are excited to see what's in this room. Those who have swam this event before know the feeling of this event and are ready to just get it over with. They know the twists and turns of this room. They know the horrifying surprises and struggle to push to the end. What could this event be? It is the mile... a length of 1500 meters in the long course pool. The human mind endlessly runs with thoughts of worry and stress as this event comes closer and closer to its upcoming hour. Some say it's nothing quite arrogantly but you know in the inside the have at least a little concern about it. But don't worry it won't really bite you in the neck like a vampire (or it may who knows? :) ) Just get up upon the block fly in the air and swim. Swim with all the effort you got. You've been doing it the last how many years? Find an inspiring song and stick to it. You are a fish; a fish in the Great Barrier Reef. Just keeping going. As Dory said, "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming....." Keep your mind awake and alive during the entire mile because before you know it....
Your done. And have once again survived the longest event in swim competition THE MILE
